Funded Research

In the summer of 2024, my partner researcher and I received Abernethy funding from Davidson College to explore literary tourism and literary legacy as displayed in New England museums and archives. Our site (the first block, in blue) houses a replicable itinerary, our findings, and a few more formal essays.

In the summer of 2025, we continued our research with another Abernethy grant, but this time with a western American scope: women writers of California (the second block, in orange). During our time Amtrak-ing along the coast, we explored the haunts of Joan Didion and Eve Babitz, along with their archives, while examining and reflecting on a contemporary cultural resurgence in these two literary icons.

In the summer of 2025, I received Art History funding from the Ligo Fund at Davidson, and I navigated the town of St. Ives, Cornwall, through the lens of writing and art. This research trip served as a synthesis of my two majors (English and Art History), and I wove together Virginia Woolf’s literary St. Ives and a visually artistic history of the town (shared by Woolf’s sister, Vanessa Bell, among others). I am presently working on an essay, and aim to update the third block, an image I took of Tate St. Ives, shortly.
